Brining the Thanksgiving turkey
“This year everyone is talking about brining the Thanksgiving turkey. The instructions say to "soak the turkey in a clean 5 gallon bucket". Once the turkey is in the bucket, where am I going to put it to keep the turkey cold?? I live in Hawaii! A co-worker told me she uses her beach cooler. OK, now we're getting somewhere. I use a Ziploc Big Bag to soak the turkey and covered it with a 20 pound bag of ice. Perfect!! I could easily turn the turkey to make sure all sides were evenly soaked... The turkey was great! Thanks for making a product big enough to hold a 21 lb turkey with 2 gallons of brine. Happy Thanksgiving!”

Chicken dinners made easy
My husband and I love to cook with chicken cutlets. When boneless chicken breasts are on sale we buy in large quanity and fillet the breasts ourselves. Then we portion them into freezer bags in one thin layer and label and freeze them..then when frozen I stand the bags upright, side by side..this really saves space!

Mess-free meatloaf
I store my meats in Ziploc Freezer Bags. One handy idea I have is making meatloaf. I have never enjoyed mixing my meatloaf ingredients by hand. It is typically very cold and obviously messy. So, I leave the meat in the Freezer Bag and add my ingredients to the bag of meat. I zip it closed and then squish, squash, and knead the ingredients until they are thoroughly mixed. I can even shape the meatloaf in the bag. I then open the bag, tear open one side and easily place the finished product in the loaf pan for cooking.

Marinating the easy way
When I freeze meat, I put the meat and the marinade into a Ziploc Freezer Bag. The defrosting time in the fridge is just the right length of time for the meat to marinate before going on the grill.

Ready-to-grill entrees
Every Sunday night I go grocery shopping. When I come home I put 3-4 pounds of chicken, beef, and fish into separate Ziploc Freezer Bags- then I add different seasonings to each bag and PRESTO- I have lots of entrees ready to grill, throw in a crock pot or bake. I cook my ground beef and freeze it in quart size freezer bags to add to soups and sauces. One night of meal prep makes a whole week of easy to cook meals!
